Task 11

In my original shot which is an extreme close up (shot 1), I hand held the camera whilst recording. However, the camera was out of focus which made the prop look blurry and the subjects leg more in focus. However, the prop needed to be the main focus and subject of this particular shot. This is due to the depth of field being shallow because I set the aperture low which was roughly f/4. Another issue was due to me zooming in on the prop, the camera came out of focus whilst I recorded. In order for me to make the prop and hand in focus, I changed the aperture settings to f/10 as well as focusing the camera better for my extreme close up shot. By doing this, the prop/hand was much clearer than the subjects body. Shot 2, was used in my final edit as it gave the audience a much clearer view of the prop and what the subject was putting into their pocket. The lower the aperture, the greater the depth of field.

In my original shot, which is an extreme long shot, the natural lighting was very bad due to the weather being bad as it was raining. This caused the video to come out slightly grainy, due to the ISO being high. The camera was hand held which was my first time using this technique which caused the video to look rushed and slightly messy. Therefore, I made improvisation in my second shot. I re recorded the shot using a gimbal to give it a smoother movement which made the video look more cleaner. Due to the weather still being bad and there was still a slight grainy effect, I changed the colour by using the effects to change the video to black and white in order to give it that effect that it is a flashback and the video was done a long time ago which then dips to white to into the next scene. Shot 2, was used in my final edit.
My aim was to record the main subject getting roughed up by two males whilst using the camera technique over the shoulder shot. In my original shot, the two subjects proceeded to speed into action in which I was unable to follow through doing over the shoulder shot. This made the video look messy as well as rushed. Due to the other two subjects rushing into action, it caused the main subject to react. Also, in the background, it was visible that there were others watching and laughing whilst I was recording. The shot was also over exposed due to the lighting being too bright. In my second shot, I re recorded and ensured that the two males moved in the same pace as me in order for the over the shoulder shot to look more clean and crisp compared to the first shot. I changed the effect to black and white in order to follow the theme of a flashback. It also made others in the background less visible. In both recordings I hand held the camera but made improvements in the second take. Shot 2, was used in the final edit and it was more cleaner as it cross dissolved into the subject proceeding back to selling.
In my original clip, which is a point of view shot, there was an error which I realised whilst editing. The exchange was incorrect as the person gave the dealer the drugs when he was suppose to take the money as seen in the original shot. In my second shot, I had to improvise and put the video in reverse as well as black and white. By doing this, it made it seem like the subject was collecting the drugs instead of giving it. The aperture remained the same as I did not re record the video which was f/10. Therefore, shot 2 was used in the final edit due to the improvisation of shot 1.
In this shot, it was a shot of the main subject having a meeting with his head teacher and parent as he was caught with drugs/money which was a wide angle shot. The camera was on a tripod and in the first shot, the set up off the camera was too close and away from a little lighting which made it difficult to see the prop that was in my hand as well as, all 3 of the subjects begin to laugh in the shot. In my second shot, it still remained as a wide angle shot but I set the camera and tripod further back and ensured it had a little exposure to some light in order to make the prop more visible. The ISO was roughly 400 in both shots. Shot 2, was used in the final edit as it the story was much more clearer in which the video cross dissolves into an extreme close up of the props.
