Unit 6 - Marketing Campaign

From the results of my survey, I can identify that the vast majority of people who done my survey were of the male gender with it being 59%. This allows me to understand that when I create products it should specifically target the male audience.

From my survey, I can identify that over half of my audience have listened to the album Crabs In A Bucket. This allows me to understand that the artists Nines is very popular and has a loyal fan base who keep up to date with the music. However, I can also see that 24% have not listened to the album which may mean they don't keep up to date with the artists music or, they are not a particular fan of the artist or genre.

Even though, I received a few silly responses from my survey, I can see that Outro was the most popular song followed by Stalker Interlude. However, I can see that a few people have no listened to the album or are not sure in which was their favourite song on the album.

From my responses, I can identify Nines target audience is young adults from the age 15 over which is 59%. This allows me to identify the different types of promotion I should use and where I should promote my artist which will mainly be on social media such as Twitter, Instagram as well as Snapchat.

From my survey, I can identify that Nines biggest competitor is Skrapz. Both Nines and Skrapz are a popular duo who make a lot of songs together. Skrapz also belongs to the British Hip Hop genre. From my other responses, I can see that people though that either CBiz, Fredo or Asco are his biggest competitors who also belong to the British Hip Hop genre. These are reasonable responses. ​

From my results, I can identify that 71% people listen to the artist. This allows me to understand that British Hip Hop is a very popular genre as Nines is associated with this genre. I can also understand that Nines is a very popular artist which fits well with my target audience.

From my survey, I can identify that my audience find the album Crabs In A Bucket a great album with the percentages being 47%. This is followed behind 35% thinking that the album was average with the lowest percentage being 18% thinking that the album is rubbish. This allows me to understand that the album is very popular and a lot of people listen and find it good.

From my survey, I can see that a lot of people believed that Nines best song was Crop Circle which is his album before Crabs in a bucket. This received a percentage which as 41%. Crabs in a bucket followed behind with the percentage being 35%. This shows me that the audience prefer his old album compared to his new one. I can also identify that Nines first albums as well as mixtapes were not as popular compared to his latest albums.

From my survey, I can understand that the vast majority of audience know that Nines is classified in the genre as British Hip Hop with the percentage being 41%. This is followed by both Drill and Grime. I can understand that many may think this due to his old music or when he changes his flow in some of his songs.

From my survey, I can identify that it is very close between the two artists, however it is clear that Nines is preferably a better artist than Skrapz with the percentage being 53%. This allows me to identify that my audience prefer listening to Nines over Skrapz. I can also interpret that the audience may prefer them when they both work together instead of solo.

Learning Aim B: 

Radio Script

For my radio script, I would like this to broadcast this on BBC Radio 1XTRA. This is because this radio station is a popular station which promotes this genre of music and allow me to reach my target audience. This radio station has popular DJ's such as Charlie Sloth, Kenny Allstars as well as Snoochie Shy. From previous research I conducted, I was able to gather that BBC radio 1XTRA audience profile is young. 15 - 24 years olds make up 56% of the audience with the media being 24 year olds. This research is beneficial because I know that broadcasting this will definitely reach my target audience.

Fonts

These are the different fonts i have used for my artist. The font I came up with was called Wanted M54. This is a font commonly associated with the genre as it is bold, dominating and it stands out. When using the font, the colour I will be using is red which allows it to stand out from the black background as well as the colour red being commonly associated with the genre and it is a bold colour. The font is not too complicated it is simple yet effective. The colour red has connotations of violence which a lot of people commonly associate with Hip Hop. However, I will avoid re enforcing negative messages by balancing it out with the colour white which represents purity.

Podcast Interview Script

These are the interviews questions in which I asked my artist. Some of the questions I asked was about their nominations for they awards as well as if they have any upcoming projects. The reason I asked these type of questions was to help the artists increase their recognition and give the audience a brief view of the accomplishments that the artist has achieved and how they grew as an artist from the area they came from.

Tour Posters

This is my drawn draft of my tour poster. The reason why I decided to choose this layout for my poster is because I wanted the artist as well as dates of tour to be the main focus on the page so it stands out. Having the artist in the middle would have be difficult to put the tour dates somewhere that is a big and visible as the main image. Placing the image on the left and the dates on the right makes them equally as big and visible on the page. The subject and name of the tour was put at the top to introduce the audience and give them a brief understanding of what they are about to read.

Out of my 3 options for my tour poster, the one I am going to use is the third layout. The reason I have chose the third layout is because the image of the artist will be much more visible as well as the tour dates. This will allow everything to be visible for everyone and one isn't overshadowing/overpowering the other. 

Website draft

These are the options of how I would have my website layed out. The option I will choose is 1.
My overall plan is to ensure that my media campaign is able to reach as many people for my target audience. 
My social media platform such as, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter will help me reach my audience. I will give a heads up as well keeping people up to date to ensure when the album will drop and other information. I will make this announcement roughly around 6/7 due to a lot of people being active around that time. 
The tour for my poster will be in July. This is because tours tend to happen around summer as it is a very popular season where a lot of people are tend to go concerts, live events etc. I believe doing it in summer is beneficially to me due to as my target audience are active during the summer season.
I will use posters for those who do not use social media often.

Social Media Posts 

This is 2 of the social medias that my artist 7EVNS uses. This is where he promotes albums, awards as well as the recent website which was made for him. This reaches his target audience and allows the artists to reach a wider audience. He tends to get over thousands of likes, retweets or comments whether its in on Instagram or Twitter which shows that he is a growing artists and has a large fan base. Both of these social media platforms are very popular with the target audience

This data is the demographics from the artists Instagram account. From this, I can identify that the age range that follows his account are 18 - 24 with the percentage being 52.2%. This is then followed by the age range 25-34 with the percentage being 32.5%. This allows me to understand that this social media reaches his target audience which is 18- 24 year olds.

This data is the demographics from the artists Instagram account. From this, I can identify that his followers as well as viewers are of the male gender which dominates the female gender with the percentage being 70.% for the men and 29.5% for the women. This is shown throughout my media campaign such as the merchandises, colour scheme and the type of music/promotion the artist does in order to reach his target audience.

This data is the demographics from the artists Instagram. From this, I can identify that his followers are from the city of London with the percentage being 52.% which dominates all of the other cities.This shows that the artist has a large fan base based in London which relates back to his tour being based in the UK due to his large fan base.

This is 7EVNS snapchat account. He is a public figure with 5,000 subscribers and this is where he promotes a lot of his work due to his following base and having a public figure. Snapchat is a very popular social media app and a lot of musicians as well artists use this platform to promote their work in which people can send to their friends, screen shot and repost as well as engaging with the artists. Due to his target audience being 18 - 24 years, snapchat is a good app due to the age range using the app very often. In conclusion, the artist using the social media apps, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat will help with promotion. This is due to the apps having a lot of teenagers/ young adults frequently using these apps. If the artist used Facebook, this would not benefit him as much due to the app being for the older generation inn the early 30s late 40s.

Interview Questions and Responses 

These are my interview questions that I asked 3 of my classmates about my media campaign. 

These are my responses from my interview with 3 of my classmates. Overall, I received positive feedback about my media campaign. Overall, I received a lot of positive results regarding my podcast, merchandise and colour scheme. Similarly, all three respondents agreed that my colour scheme was a good choice. However, Theo gave an explanation and believed that it related back to my genre that I chose. All three believed that there needed to be improvements regarding my website. Both Michael and Theo believed that I need to work on the homepage which seemed all over the place. This will enable me to know what changes and improvements to make in order to receive even better feedback regarding my media campaign. 

Survey and Responses 

From my media campaign, it is clear that my strategy or cross platform worked really as I received a vast amount of positive feedback from survey. However, there are areas where I could make improvement. Below is the responses I received from my survey.

 I can see from my survey results that my audience overall believed that the website for my artist was effective which is shown by the results. Many thought that it was either a 7 or 8 of how effective it was which allows me to understand that I met the requirements. However, on my website, there was room for improvement like my tour being much more clearer and my homepage needing some work on. This relates back to my interview where 3 of my interviewees believed that my homepage slightly let my website down and did not live up to the exception like my merchandise section.

Many believed that the colour scheme, black, red and white was a good choice as it went with my genre which was Hip Hop. However, one person was unsure whether it was a good choice. Instead of having all bold colours, I could've added a bright and vibrant colour to make it stand out more instead of having the basic colours of black, red and white. Incorporating a bright vibrant colour would have brought energy similarly like the colour yellow.

I received a lot of positive feedback regarding my podcast with my artists. The improvement that could be done is ensuring that it is slightly shorter which will keep the young adults much more engaged and not distracted easily.

From my results, I received no negative feedback as everyone agreed that the font I used was a good choice. I believe that the font represented my genre as well as my artist very well. Therefore, there is no need for improvement  on my font selection.

The majority believed my album cover from a scale 1 - 10 believed it was an 8 with the percentage being over 46% which is followed by 23.08% for it being a 7/10. However, there could be improvement for the album cover. The album cover could be a bit more adventouros and not simple with just an image of the artist. More colours as well as having an image which is not dark as has different elements such as crabs which relates to the title of the album cover "Crabs in a bucket".

From my survey, the vast majority of people believed the best part of my campaign was my merchandise. I gave a variety of clothing and items to choose from with bold colours hence why a lot of people believed that it was the best part of my campaign.

From my results, I received no negative feedback as everyone agreed that the merchandise was appropriate for my target audience which included t shirts, hoodies and trainers which commonly associated with the younger generation.

Over 92% believed that the pricing of my ticket was a suitable price. a regular ticket costs £40 whereas a VIP tickets costs £75. Whilst deciding on the price of the tickets, I took into consideration whether the pricing would be suitable for the target audience but still a reasonable price for a ticket. However, I could've decreased the price of the ticket as many may not be financial stable as they may not be working or still in education.

From my result, the vast majority believed that there was enough detail on my website about the tour, whereas, there were two who were unsure. This may be because on the tour page, the beginning page doesn't have the tickets as you have to click on it to get more information.

From the results, I can see that my media campaign went very well overall. Over 30% of people believed that my media campaign was a 9/10. This shows that they believed that my media campaign worked really well. However, others may disagree and believe that there could be more improvement such as there being more elements on the website, ensuring the artists has more social media accounts and much more enthusiasm towards the radio advert.. 

In conclusion, my strategy of cross media platforms enabled me to receive a huge amount of positive feedback from my audience. Many heard the podcast as well as radio advert which eventually led them to the artists website where they gained more information about tours, merchandises as well as the artist himself. The merchandises as well as font choice was very successful which worked well as the audience gave the best feedback regarding these two. Many believed that there was also enough detail on the website which is shown by the survey results.
